On September 4th and 5th the Moon will be in a Waxing Crescent. Durning a Waxing Cresent Phase the moon is best viewed in the west just after sunset. The First Quarter Moon with a illumination of 50% is on September 6th. After the First Quarter Moon the Moon's illumination will grow each day until the next Full Moon.
